For a quick snapshot of our competitive position in the global market, these are the facts:
Who we are
The third largest centre for film and television production in North America, BC has the locations, the facilities, and – most importantly – the people to bring it all to life. With skilled crews, technicians and creative experts, BC’s extensive talent pool is the foundation of a thriving industry sector.
What we do
Everything from pre to post-production. With a sophisticated industry infrastructure from purpose-built stages to state-of-the-art post-production and visual effects facilities, as well as the capacity to service forty projects at once, BC is equipped to handle every aspect of production.
Where we do it
Located at the Pacific Rim gateway of Canada’s west coast, BC is a two-hour flight from Los Angeles and an easily accessible travel hub to all points. While the majority of motion picture industry infrastructure is located in and around Vancouver, BC’s vast diversity of locations are found throughout the province with access supported by the BC Film Commission and a comprehensive network of Regional Film Commissions.
When
BC’s mild west coast climate allows for year round filming. With proximity and technology on our side, BC shares information in real time with Los Angeles.
Why we do it
Because we are good at it. BC’s film and television production sector has matured over several decades to emerge as a vibrant and important part of the economic mix in the province. A favourable tax structure, an experienced and committed crew base 30,000 strong, and a tradition of support and cooperation among business, government, labour and the community keep BC at its competitive best.
